Lecture 1:

Life at Sea: the seafarer’s life on-board

(15:00-16:30, Nov. 27th., Room 108)

The lecture will discuss and explain the life of seafarers on each rank and nationalities, describing their jobs, especially the long hours of duty at work whilst in port and at sea in bad weather conditions.  Also, it presents how the seafarers cope up with their homesickness and boredom on-board.

海上人生：海员的船上生活

讲座主要讨论和解释不同职位国籍海员的生活并描述他们的工作，尤其是恶劣天气条件下在港口和海上长时间作业的情况。此外，还将介绍海员如何应对并处理他们在船上的思乡之情和无聊时光。

Lecture 2：

The Ship and the Ship Operations

（15:00-16:30, Nov. 28th., Room 108）

The lecture will describe the vessel and the different parts of the vessel; and discuss the different types of operations on-board from internal operations such as in navigation: berthing, unberthing, transit in channels; in cargo care: internal transfer of cargo,  jettison of cargo in case of bad weather; safety and security: trainings and drills, ships maintenance, transiting in high risk areas, overhauling of engines and other machineries, dealing with local authorities.

船舶及船舶作业

讲座主要讲述船舶及其不同部分; 并从内部操作方面讨论不同类型的船舶作业，例如与海上航行有关的靠泊、离港、过境; 货物保管方面的货物内部转移和恶劣天气情况下的货物丢弃; 安全和保障方面的培训和演习、船舶维修、高风险区域的过境、发动机和其他机械设备检修以及与地方当局的交涉等。

Lecture 3：

Shipping Documents

The lecture will present to students samples of shipping documents from a certain country like the United States requirements and how to fill out each item; discuss the importance of sending the pre-arrival documents on time and the importance of the Bill of Lading.

讲座将向学生展示以美国为例的航运文件样本以及如何完成每个文件; 讨论按时发送抵港前文件的重要性和提单的重要性。

Lecture 4：

Ship Correspondence Making

（18:00-19:30, Nov. 30th., Room 108）

The lecture will discuss the internal and external correspondence and the flow of hierarchy of correspondence (e.g. breakdowns, nearmiss, incidents, daily reports) on-board; make students/participants write/create ship’s letters or correspondence as practical application

讲座将讨论船上对内与对外联络的各类文本格式及要求（如记录故障、险情、事故、日常报告的文本等）：让学生或参与者实践操作撰写船舶信件或通讯。
