Implementation of Work Program of Master Degree’sThesis Defense (Trial)

In order to improve the management on paperwriting and thesis defense, and effectively improve the quality of graduation thesis,accordingto the situation of our college education of graduate students, the college committeemeeting and plenary meeting of tutor have passed the work program of MasterDegree’s Thesis Defense (Trial)” . And the now notice as follows and should abideby.
First,the arrangement of the master degree thesis defense in 2012
There are two times: one is in the middleof June; the other is in mid-September.
Second,the submission of the first complete thesis
(1)Deadline: April 20th; nolater than April 23rd; those failed to submit, will be arranged to takepart in the thesis defense in September.
The draft must be finshed before April20th, and the graduates should ask teacher for guidance in advance to improvetheir drafts. Tutors should be strict with students in weather the thesis issuspected of plagiarism, in the normative of the thesis format, content,structure, reference so as to guarantee the quality of the thesis. The first completedraft can be submitted to college after tutor admit the thesis and sign on the "confirmation".
(2)The way to submit: submit the electronicversion of complete daft to your tutor and one printed draft to teacher Fang,the scientific research secretary. (The printed draft doesn’t need hard papercover, just normal paper cover. You need to write your student ID, and don'tprint out the student and tutor ‘s names)
(3)The way of checking:
We should arrange “college graduationthesis review committee" under the unified requirement of college to implementpoint by point. The review committee shall be composed of five experts, includingthree experts from other universities, one expert from our university, and oneexpert from other disciplines.
Third, draft review and the standard forstudents to take part in thesis defense in September.
(1)Whether the paper is suspected ofplagiarism;
If the paper is suspected of plagiarism,the reviewer should make a record and the college asks someone specific tocheck and confirm online.
(2) Whether the structure of the thesis iscomplete
Whether the parts of paper (including introduction,literature review, theoretical basis, present arguments and conclusion)are complete.
(3)Whether the paper format is standard
Whether there is a comprehensive literaturereview or the literature reference information is standard, or the format of referencesis standard and uniform.
(4) Other prolblems need to be modified(including title, and framework of the paper, etc.);
In the above four criteria, the article (1)and article (2) are the "one vote veto".
Forth,the time of paper submission for those who take part in the thesis defense in June
(1)Deadline: on May 21st, not later than May23rd; those who fail to submit should participate in the thesis defense inSeptember.
(2)The way to submit: the electronicversion of the thesis is submitted to your tutor and a paper version issubmitted to the Secretary of graduate education, teacher Fang Jingmei.
Fifth,the time of paper submission for those who take part in the thesis defense in September
(1) The students can ask for taking part inthesis defense in September. The first complete draft should be submitted inJune 22nd, not later than June 25th; the final paper should be submitted in September5th, not later than September 7th. The way to submit is that the electronicversion of the thesis is submitted to your tutor and a paper version is submittedto the Secretary of graduate education, teacher Fang Jingmei. Failed to submitwill be delayed until next year (together with the next generation of graduates)to participate in the thesis defense.
(2) According to proposal of the reviewexpert group, the students who participate in thesis defense in Septembershould submit the electronic version of the modified paper to tutor and aprinted one to secretary of graduate education teacher Fang Jingmei in June22nd (no later than June 25th). The final paper should be submitted in September5th, no later than September 7th. Failed to submit will be delayed until nextyear (together with the next generation of graduates) to participate in the thesisdefense.
Six,the permissions to judge students to take part in the thesis defense in June orSeptember
If the tutor thinks that his student’spaper still does not meet the requirements, so he can ask his student to take partin thesis defense in September, and submit the name list to the secretary of graduateeducation, teacher Fang Jingmei. After the summary being reported to the subCommittee, it will be made publicity together with review results which made bythe review panel.
Each site review panel independentlydetermines students’ papers still don’t meet the requirements. Those who failto meet the paper requirment should take part in the thesis defense in September.
the review result should be submitted tothe sub committee, and then the committee public the name list about who takepart in the thesis defense in June and who take part in September.
