The Institute of Contemporary Western Literary Theories


The Institute of Contemporary Western Literary Theories was founded in March, 2012. It has a team of 5 people, of whom 3 are associate professors and supervisor for MA students and 4 hold doctor’s degree. Professor Rong Xinfang is the director, who has received“the second prize of the 11th Philosophy and Social Science Achievements’ Contest in Shanghai”. All of them have studied abroad.

Professor Rong Xinfang focuses on the research of formalism and new criticism. Guo Haixia, associate professor, focuses on the research of feminist criticism and marine novels. Guo Qin, associate professor, focuses on the research of psychological analysis and drama. Zhang Jun, lecturer, focuses on the research of the post colonialism and culture.

They have made great achievements on academic research. By now, Professor Rong Xin Fang has finished one National Social Science Project, one Ministry of Education’s Humanities and Social Science Planned Project, and oneShanghai Municipal Education Commission Research Innovation Key Project. Some of them have finished Shanghai Municipal Social Science Project and Innovation Project.Many important papers are published in noted academic journals such as Foreign Literature Review, Jounal of Tsinghua University, Foreign Literature, Foreign Language Teaching and so on. Many important books are published such as I. A. Richards and Chinese Culture: Dialogue between Chinese and Western Cultures, Post Colonialism and the World Pattern, History of Criticism on English Literature and so on.
