The Institute of Modern British and American Literature


The Institute of Modern British and American Literature in Shanghai Maritime University was founded in 2012. Its purpose is to research on British and American classical writers and works on the basis of contemporary Chinese and Western literary theories. Distinctive features of the research institute are focusing on the research of thoughts, narrative art and history of criticism of the important writers in British and American contemporary literature in the context of contemporary Chinese culture as well as focusing on interdisciplinary study. This research institute stresses on cultivating professionals, communicating with other scholars from home and abroad and making contribution to the human society. What’s more, the research institute has a faculty of qualified teachers who have published many academic papers, books and translations.
