Promotion Plan of Foreign Language Teaching
1. To give students examination trainings by holding lectures
This training model will be carried on by College English Department and other major foreign language departments. Teachers are supposed to hold lectures for guidance of CET4, CET6, TEM4 and TEM8 in fixed place and at fixed time. Teaching materials will be printed by CFL.
2. Model of Q&A during office hours
Teachers are supposed to take initiatives to give guidance and consultation to their supervised undergraduates and graduates related to extracurricular activities, competitions, paper writing, CET4&6, TEM4&8 and other activities.
3. To introduce free English resources to facilitate English learning.
In this semester, CFL is going to try to introduce free English resources like English Writing Self-Correcting Network and Double Hundred Plan from Global Language Expert to facilitate English learning.
4. To launch “Telling Chinese Shipping Stories in English” project.
Actively responding to “21century Maritime Silk Road Strategy” and “Telling Chinese Stories” initiative, CFL launches Translation Project on Telling Chinese Shipping Stories in English to improve students’ comprehensive ability and competitiveness.
5. To establish a platform for online consultation.
Guided by “Internet+” model, CFL will establish a platform for online consultation. Assignment, guidance and assessment are required to complete on this platform. And teachers will be punished, praised or promoted according to their digital records in the platform.
6. To establish a platform for online English learning.
Mobile phone terminal platform will be expected to achieve online English learning. Students are allowed to try as many times as possible to get higher score within a set time period. Besides, CFL will found Maritime College English Teaching Resources Center to uphold the newest maritime English materials.
7. To change the scoring model of English grade.
SMU needs to change the scoring model of English grade after the establishment of mobile phone terminal platform. The highest scored can be calculated in proportion to the final score.
