Lecturer Profile:

Associate Professor, Director of Business English Department of Shanghai Maritime University, Member of IMEC Council of International Maritime English Association, Technical Assistant of MTCC-Asia of International Maritime Organization, Editorial Reviewer of JOSE, Director of Maritime Language Processing and Translation Center. He is mainly engaged in translation research on maritime and logistics and has taught in Cambodia, Myanmar, India, and Georgia. On behalf of IMLA, he participated in the revision of IMO Model Course 3.17 and 6.09. On behalf of the Chinese government and IMLA, he submitted a proposal Model Course Behavior Verb List to IMLA and it was adopted. He has published more than 10 papers.

Lecture Introduction:

With the deepening of economic globalization and frequent commercial trade, all kinds of business letters play an increasingly important role in trade communication. Business letters are an important form of modern business communication. How to be polite and professional in business letters, so as to achieve the goal of being polite and factual, and clear? The lecture starts from the basic phenomena, combines personal practical activities, and uses discourse analysis to focus on the professionalism of business letters.
