Lecture Introduction:
Traditionally there is no difference between Chinese-English translation strategies, methods, and techniques, which is due to the fact that Chinese-English comparative studies are still inadequate. We will review the development of Chinese-English comparative studies and translation, and point out the strategic differences between Chinese-English translation and English-Chinese translation based on our current research results. At the same time, we will point out the reasons for the disconnect between theory and practice in current MTI practice reports and give some suggestions for discussion on writing MTI practice reports based on our research on Chinese-English contrast and translation.
Lecturer Profile:
Wang Jianguo, Ph.D. (Beijing Foreign Studies University), Professor of College of Foreign Languages, East China University of Science and Technology, Member of Academic Committee of the University, Chairman of the Sub-Committee of Arts and Education of Academic Committee of the University, Director of Institute of Foreign Languages. He is a member of the Fifth Discipline Review Group of Shanghai Academic Degree Committee, a delegate of the Seventh Congress of Shanghai Federation of Social Sciences; a member of the Committee of Chinese Foreign Language System, a member of Shanghai Master of Translation Education Committee, and an editorial board member of Journal of International Archaeology and Historical Linguistics Society. He has served as an anonymous reviewer for dissertations of the Australian National University (ANU), English reviewer for documents on the official website of the State Hanban, anonymous reviewer for several publications of domestic and international journals, correspondence and final review for the National Social Science Fund of China and Shanghai Social Science Fund projects. He has published more than 90 papers and book reviews, 9 books, and 24 projects, including 2 National Social Science Fund projects and 3 projects, 8 provincial and ministerial projects, and 12 other projects.
