In the afternoon of May 9, 2019, Xie Kaiyun, Secretary of the Party Committee and Director of Shanghai Yangshan Port Maritime Bureau, Guo Jinchun, Deputy Director of the Bureau, Jin Lianggang and Liu Jianping, a delegation from the Bureau, visited our college to participate in the exchange forum of twinning and co-construction between the Party Committees of both parties. The meeting was hosted by Zhu Yaobin, the secretary of the Party Committee of our college, Qian Minfang, the deputy secretary of the Party Committee, Guo Haixia, the vice president of teaching, Wang Xian, the director of the Department of Business English, and Chen Xuejun, the director of the office, attended the meeting.
Before the meeting, Secretary Xie Kaiyun and his party visited our college's history museum. Secretary Zhu introduced the general situation of our college, while Secretary Xie recalled the years when he studied in the English Abroad Training Department of the Ministry of Communications in 1996. Both sides said that both the Maritime University and the Maritime Bureau are sea, and have a long history, so they should cooperate closely in the future to create a win-win situation together.
At the meeting, Secretary Xie and Secretary Zhu introduced the party building and business work on behalf of their respective party organizations. In recent years, Yangshan Port Maritime Bureau, which is located at the front of Shanghai International Shipping Center and Pilot Free Trade Zone, leads the business development with Party building and strives to build a maritime branch with first-class supervision, first-class service, first-class team and first-class environment which is in line with the status of Shanghai International Shipping Center. On the other hand, the Party Committee of College of Foreign Languages continues to develop a new road for the construction of learning party organizations in the new era, fully reflecting the leadership of party building work in education management, enhancing teachers' party spirit, strengthening ideological leadership, and focusing on cultivating people with moral character.
The two sides also discussed and shared their insights on the content and next step of twinning and building, hoping to further deepen cooperation and exchange on the basis of twinning and building, focusing on the transfer and transformation of achievements, translation of maritime English literature, internship and practice of students, and sending outstanding students to visit ships for internship. We hope to further deepen the cooperation and exchange, plan and organize joint party building activities with themes, connotations and heights, and jointly explore new ideas, new ways and new methods of party building work under the new situation. The two sides will closely focus on the objectives and requirements of the Party Committee's twinning, actively explore a long-term exchange mechanism, give full play to their respective advantages, promote the development and progress of both sides, and achieve effective improvement of the level of party building and expansion of cooperation in professional fields.
Deputy Director Guo Jinchun, Deputy Secretary Qian Minfang and Vice President Guo Haixia also made exchange speeches respectively.
At the end of the meeting, Secretary Xie Kaiyun and Secretary Zhu Yaobin signed a three-year twinning agreement on behalf of the party committees of both sides, and all the participants took a group photo.
