In order to further familiarize teachers with ship equipment, enrich their knowledge of navigation, and effectively transmit the vision and plan of the college around the development of maritime characteristics to faculty members, the Party Committee of the College of Foreign Languages organized a visit to the GMDSS Communication Laboratory and the Navigation Simulation Center of the College of Merchant Marine in the afternoon of March 1.
The visit was divided into two groups and went to the GMDSS ground communication laboratory in Building B 405 of the College of Merchant Marine and the pilot base of the Navigation Simulation Center in Building D 401 respectively. Mr. Lian Qingyun combined his own sailing experience to introduce the purpose and usage of VHF communication equipment, single sideband transmitter circuit, SAR radar transponder and other marine communication equipment. Mr. Zhou Wei simulated different sailing scenarios based on different route designs, so that everyone could experience the feeling of driving a ship in an immersive way.
The visit and learning activities effectively expand the nautical horizons of our teachers, help foreign language teachers to combine the development of maritime characteristics and foreign language teaching research, and lay a solid foundation for better reflecting the school's shipping, logistics and maritime schooling characteristics and cultivating international maritime talents.
