Inheriting Maritime Spirit and Rooting in Shipping Career--"The First Lesson of Shipping" by the Secretary and Dean of the College of Foreign Languages Illuminated the Freshmen's Journey Toward the Sea

On the afternoon of September 27, in order to guide the undergraduate freshmen to actively adapt to college life and integrate foreign language learning into the maritime characteristics of the school, the College of Foreign Languages held the Shipping Lesson theme education activity of the Secretary and Dean of the College of Foreign Languages in COSCO Lecture Hall. Li Pinyou, Secretary of the Party Committee of the College, and Zhang Yan, dean, attended and gave lectures. This activity aims to encourage new undergraduate students to aim high and take on the mission and responsibility of the new era. Devote ourselves to study and strive to become an international maritime foreign language talent in the new era.


With the theme of "Shipping Power, Mission and Responsibility in the New Era", Secretary Li Pinyou explained the shipping power and young people's mission and responsibility in the new era; and stressed the importance of China's maritime culture. He pointed out that as an important part of Chinese culture, China's navigation has made great achievements in history. He called on the new students to realize that they have an important mission to achieve China's goal of becoming a shipping power and strive for excellence.


With the theme of "How Lingua Links Voyage - FLC Students' Future" and the entry point of language people and foreign language people, Dean Zhang Yan explained the advantages of foreign language and literature for undergraduate freshmen. It also introduces the employment advantages and core competitiveness of the major closely combined with the maritime characteristics of the school. She encouraged the students to study hard, breakthrough themselves, and forge ahead for their career development goals.


In this educational activity, Secretary Li and Dean Zhang introduced the importance of navigation culture and navigation education to the new students in a simple way, showed the advantages and employment prospects of language majors in the new era, and stimulated their sense of mission and responsibility to help build a national shipping power through professional learning. Through this activity, the students are also full of confidence and expectations for their professional choice and future career development.
