On the afternoon of October 25, University of Portsmouth Vice President Anne Murphy, Vice President Bobby Mehta, and a delegation of five people visited our university. President Lu Jing received the guests, and relevant officials of the International Exchange Office and the College of Foreign Languages attended the reception.
In his welcome speech, Lu Jing said that in recent years, the school has seized the opportunities of the construction of the Shanghai International Shipping Center and Free Trade Zone to strengthen the outstanding characteristics and advantages of the school in shipping, logistics, and ocean.
He pointed out that the two universities have carried out friendly cooperation since 2008, and hoped that the two sides would expand the cooperation mode and cooperation majors on the basis of the existing cooperation in the future. At the same time, he welcomed the faculty and students of the University of Portsmouth to exchange and study at Shanghai Maritime University.
Anne Murphy expressed her gratitude for the warm reception of the university, saying that Portsmouth is an important port in the UK, and the British government strongly supports the construction of Portsmouth port. The University of Portsmouth has majors such as logistics and supply chain management, new energy, and green energy, and looks forward to more extensive and in-depth cooperation between the two sides in the future.
Bobbie Mehta said that Shanghai Maritime University is an important partner of the University of Portsmouth and hoped that the two sides will have more cooperation opportunities in the future in the fields of overseas student study, teacher training, and scientific research.
Founded in 1869, the University of Portsmouth has five colleges: College of Business and Law, College of Creative and Cultural Industries, College of Humanities and Social Sciences, College of Science and Health, and College of Engineering.
