On November 19, the National Strategic Communication and Translation Professionals Training Innovation Forum from a global perspective was held in the University's Haifeng International Academic Exchange Center. The forum was co-sponsored by the University and the Translation Technical Committee of Translators Association of China, the Intelligent Translation Laboratory of Translation Institute of China Foreign Language Administration, Shanghai Foreign Languages Society, and Shanghai Society of Science and Technology Translation. From Fudan University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Tongji University, Beijing Foreign Studies University, Shanghai International Studies University, Xi 'an International Studies University, Ocean University of China, Dalian Maritime University, Dalian University of Foreign Studies, University of International Business and Economics and other universities and research institutions more than 20 well-known experts and scholars in the field of translation, More than 80 teachers and graduate students from inside and outside the school participated in the forum. On behalf of the university, Song Baoru welcomed and thanked the experts and scholars attending the meeting. He said that Shanghai Maritime University was born because of the sea, and it is strong to the sea, always aiming at serving the major strategies of the national maritime power and shipping power, and taking serving the local economic and social development as its own responsibility. Over the years, we have given full play to our teaching and scientific research advantages to provide strong talent support for the development of some industries such as national port and shipping, logistics, and Marine fields. At present, in the process of China participating in and leading the international maritime governance, it is crucial to strengthen the international communication of the national Marine strategy. How to give full play to the advantages of maritime universities, actively connect with the development strategy and social needs of the country, Shanghai and the industry, train high-level applied translation talents in the international maritime field, and build corresponding theoretical and technical systems? To serve international maritime affairs and the dissemination of maritime discourse is an important proposition of The Times that the College of Foreign Languages of Maritime University must answer. It is hoped that the experts attending the meeting can offer suggestions and suggestions for the training of foreign language and translation talents and discipline construction of Maritime University, and jointly promote the high-quality development of foreign language education.
Jiang Feng said in his speech that the College of Foreign Languages of Shanghai Maritime University is based on maritime affairs, serving transportation and facing the sea, with distinct disciplinary characteristics. Foreign language disciplines in maritime and Marine colleges and universities should further base themselves on Marine and maritime shipping, attach importance to major national strategies, focus on the needs of the new era, give full play to their characteristics and advantages, and train high-level translation talents. Translation is the transmission of knowledge, the cracking of cultural codes, the process and carrier of ideological exchange and integration, and the soul of a global vision. The cultivation of high-level translation talents should be based on the overall situation of service, guided by demand, with professional characteristics, practice-oriented and collaborative education. Wang Fei, vice president of the Translation Institute of the China Foreign Language Administration, made a video speech, saying that it is necessary to deepen the awareness of Marine strategy, spread China's plan of ocean governance to the world, improve the national translation capacity, and open up the last kilometer of China's ocean governance international communication. It is also pointed out that promoting the high-quality development of translation is of great significance to meet the needs of people's foreign exchanges and strengthen the influence of China's ocean governance. It is necessary to grasp the development direction of technology, explore technology empowerment, promote the transformation of translation education, and cultivate high-quality composite translation talents. By creating a digital environment, we can demonstrate academic achievements for the national Marine and maritime development, give full play to the advantages of the platform, provide intellectual support, further promote the healthy development of the translation industry, and make greater contributions to the mutual learning of Chinese and foreign civilizations. This forum includes four sections: roundtable forum, keynote report, editor-in-chief forum and postgraduate forum.

After the exchange, Song Baoru, Secretary of the Party Committee of the University, and Jiang Feng, secretary of the Party Committee of Shanghai International Studies University, made summary comments respectively. Secretary Song Baoru pointed out that the development of the discipline should be problem-oriented and demand-oriented, and it is necessary to start from the problem, find the right entry point in the industry, serve the national strategy, enhance the international maritime discourse power, and make our voice heard. Foreign language discipline should be integrated with technology, so that science and technology can lead everything. Secretary Jiang Feng said that the discussion highlights the global perspective and national strategic needs, and is oriented towards characteristics and actual needs. Foreign language discipline should not be narrowly defined as a foreign language major, but should create its own characteristics according to the positioning of the school. Only in this way can we base ourselves on foreign language universities, focus on one industry, and integrate foreign languages into it. Professor Ren Dongsheng said in his comments that the forum is an academic feast and a grand event to discuss the strategic communication paths and methods of maritime powers.
During the keynote presentation session, Professor Li Mei from Tongji University, Professor Cui Qiliang from University of International Business and Economics, Professor Tao Youlan from Fudan University, Professor Wang Shunyu from Xi 'an International Studies University, Associate Professor Wang Huashu from Beijing Foreign Studies University and Associate Professor Yuan Yu from Shanghai Maritime University exchanged views on the topic of Innovation in technology-enabled translation Education. The experts focused on translation teaching practice, translation education innovation and language service industry development in the era of artificial intelligence, and had in-depth exchanges and discussions on the importance of technology communication in translation practice, the cultivation of translation technology thinking ability, semantic network and translation quality evaluation, and machine translation in the maritime field. During the forum, Professor Sun Yu, Executive editor of Foreign Languages, Professor Tan Yesheng, editor of Foreign Languages, Professor Zhen Fengchao, deputy editor of Contemporary Foreign Languages Studies, and Professor Zheng Yongyan, co-editor of System, delivered speeches respectively. The experts briefly introduced the manuscript requirements, review process, permanent columns and topic scope of their journals, and exchanged the challenges and countermeasures brought by artificial intelligence machine translation system to translation teaching, translation professional education, language service industry and translation discipline around the theme of translation research innovation. Finally, the experts answered the questions of the teachers and students at the meeting with their rich editing experience and theoretical expertise.
The graduate Forum consists of six panels, each with two expert comments. The theme of the forum is (maritime) translation technology practice innovation and language resources construction. The teachers and students attending the meeting elaborated their views around the theme and actively participated in interactive exchanges. The expert comments were detailed and pertinent, and the atmosphere was warm. After the forum, the closing ceremony and the award ceremony of outstanding exchange papers were held.
The Forum aims to better serve international maritime and Marine discourse communication, cultivate high-level applied translation talents in the field of international maritime and Marine in the AIGC era, and broaden the development ideas of the discipline by discussing key issues in the integration and development of English for Special Purposes (ESP), represented by maritime English, with national strategies, translation technologies, language services, international maritime and Marine discourse communication.
