The College of Foreign Languages Held A Seminar on the Application of Major Projects of National Philosophy and Society

On the evening of Saturday, August 3rd, the College of Foreign Languages invited Professor Xu Huadong, Executive Vice President of the Belt and Road Research Institute of Dalian Maritime University, to give a lecture entitled Some Reflections on Applying for Major Projects of National Philosophy and Social Sciences. The lecture was presided over by Dean Zhang Yan and attended by heads of relevant departments, research team leaders, and backbone teachers.

 

Professor Xu Huadong is the chief expert of the major research project of Philosophy and Social Sciences of the Ministry of Education on the Compilation and Database Construction of the Ancient Chinese to English Translation Dictionary, and the vice president of the Liaoning Translation Society. He has long been engaged in the practice and theory research of English translation of classics, bilingual lexicography, and news communication. He has won the Chinese Publishing Government Award, Excellent Publisher Award, National Transportation System Model Worker, National Press and Publication Industry Leading Talent, Liaoning Province Outstanding Expert, Dalian City Leading Talent, and other titles.

 

Professor Xu took the current and English translation of the Classical Chinese Prose as an example and explained the project from seven aspects, including the selection of selected topics, sub-project setting, project demonstration, project results, composition of project members, progress, and conclusion, and had an in-depth exchange with the faculty.

 

This lecture has brought valuable experience for the cultivation and development of the scientific research teams of the school and the declaration of major projects and has better promoted organized scientific research.
